Summer Art Camp 2006

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING
“I’d like to thank you for the wonderful camp experience that Erica had at Young at Art. You taught her so much about Egypt and Mexico and she did so many fabulous art projects!”

In addition to its regular toddler art program, Susan Striker’s Young at Art summer camp offers creative children ages 6-12 a chance to travel all over the world without leaving home. Not ready for sleep away camp just yet? "Go" to ancient Egypt instead, to unravel the mysteries of mummies and pyramids. Or, "travel" South of the Border to celebrate the rich culture of Mexico. The unique arts and crafts of each culture are the main focus of  the summer, Each week we will focus on a different multi-cultural theme; all inspired by literature and including the food and music of the culture. Our historic "Art Barn" and its surrounding lush lawns will be home to us as we draw, paint, weave, build and create with clay. Our popular Native American program has been expanded to include an additional week with all new projects.

Casey proudly shows off
her Native American basketWeeks of July 10 and July 17: Native America’s rich craft tradition will motivate us as we sing, dance, learn the literature and create art inspired by Native Americans. Dreamcatchers, woven baskets, tom-toms and clay pots will be just some of our projects.

Week of July 24 : Fasten your seat belts as we "go"   on an exciting African safari where we will create  art  inspired by our "trip", including masks, paintings, statues and more. Stories we read will include several beautifully illustrated African legends that will inspire us to create a multitude of art projects in varied media.
