April 10, 2008 Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT Susan Striker has received the
highly competitive 2008 Connecticut Art Education Association Award, Outstanding Elementary Art Educator, for significant contributions to the field of art education. The CAEA awards were presented on the
evening of Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. The event included buffet dinner, open museum galleries, and the awards presentation.
July 7-July 10 2008 Tennessee Arts Commisio Susan Striker offered two tutorials
and several teacher workshops at the Summer Intensive 2008 at the Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee for teachers, principals and administrators from six Value Plus elementary schools. The event was organized

Winter, 2006/2007 Young at Art Ancient Egypt was taught at Sherman School's
winter semester after school program.

Saturday, June 24, 2006 Germanna Community College, Fredericksburg Campus, room 212, Fredericksburg, VA Susan Striker gave three Anti-Coloring Workshops at Germanna Community College in Virginia and made an appearance at Jabberwocky, a local bookstore.

gave a hands-on workshop for teachers that was open to the public, for a fee, as room allowed.

holiday gift making, snacks, story time and songs. Parents deserve a day off. Saturday, December 16 was their day to catch up with themselves, rest, go to a spa, do nothing (or catch up with holiday shopping).
Children were dropped off at Young at Art for an afternoon of art, crafts and holiday gift making, stories, music and healthful snacks.

Art educator, founder of
Young at Art® schools and author of Young at Art®, Please Touch® and The Anti-Coloring Book® series talked about the nature, value and significance of early childhood
art. She demonstrated its crucial connection to literacy and the development of learning styles. Sue discussed many of the ways our current education system thwarts creativity and discourages the development of
critical thinking skills in the very young. The 3 hour presentation included 1 hour of theory and two hours of hands on experience.

November 19, 2005 Uniondale, NY Susan Striker was been awarded The prestigious

March, 2004 Author of the Month Susan Striker was featured as the Author of the Month in Teaching k-8 in March 2004. March is National Youth Art Month, and the magazine tied the feature into a focus on children's art. Teaching k-8,
a National magazine written for elementary school teachers.
April, 2004 A Village Store, Bedford, VA Susan spent the day demonstrating her literature-based Master Artists curriculum to art teachers and parents on a Saturday in April, 2004 at A Village Store, 1004 Gunstock Road, Bedford, Virginia. Recertification points were available. The cost for the day was $110.00 and included all materials and written sample lesson plans.

Satuday, June 5, 2004 Beardsley Zoo, Bridgeport, CT Sue Striker and her staff from

were be on hand at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport to help children create exciting and creative craft projects. The event was a benefit for the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center. For a donation families enjoyed the zoo, listen to live music, attend a bar-b-que, ride the Carousel and create crafts with
Young at Art staff.

Draw Your Child Out Discussion was held on why not to give your children coloring
